Description:

WE ARE NOW LOOKING FOR A RESEARCH SCIENTIST TO JOIN OUR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING TEAM.

As we have an ample amount of interesting projects ongoing, we are now looking to grow our team with a new Research Scientist. With us you get to improve the performance of components manufactured using Additive Manufacturing by improving the basic material properties with a combination of optimized process conditions, improved heat treatments and advanced analysis of monitoring process signals using machine learning techniques. Collaborating closely with our team of ten, you will have the chance to study topics like minimizing waste and design of new printable alloys to be used in innovative applications.
If you are interested in completing your PhD and have already gotten some experience in the field after your master’s degree, you might be interested in completing your PhD in VTTs new Doctoral programme. In this case we can tailor the position for you to be involved in work that focuses on processability of new alloys with improved magnetic properties which would enable you to focus on publishing related to this topic for the upcoming three to four years. Our Doctoral Program supports a goal-oriented PhD work within VTT’s strategic research choices. But getting into the program is not a requirement for the position.
Our team, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies works on the industrial use of metal additive manufacturing by developing new applications, process & production concepts, and additive manufacturing materials and their performance. We provide technologies and concepts for transforming industry towards autonomous production. Our solutions ensure safe, flexible, and resilient industry operations. Your work would contribute to shape the future limits of components design and performance while improving sustainability of the manufacturing sector.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Familiarity with Additive Manufacturing processes. Thorough understanding of the effect of heat treatments on the base properties of the material.
  • Hands on experience applying machine learning or AI for data analysis.
  • Masters in materials or mechanical engineering.
