Description:

The Research Scientist I (RS I) is part of a multidisciplinary, interdepartmental team, including epidemiologists, laboratory scientists, toxicologists, health educators, and physicians, that provides environmental exposure data and interpretation to study participants, program stakeholders, and the public. The RS I is required to analyze, interpret, and communicate findings from environmental exposure investigations.
The incumbent works under the supervision of the Health Program Manager I, Chief of the Biomonitoring Outreach and Communications Unit. The RS I (Epi/Bio) performs a variety of tasks with limited scientific scope and complexity related to implementation of biomonitoring studies. This includes sample and data management, laboratory quality assurance, and interpretation and communication of results for the California Environmental Contaminant Biomonitoring Program (also known as Biomonitoring California).
The RS I will assist with sample and data management, data review and interpretation using established guidelines and technical scientific procedures and research methods, and coordination between the Biomonitoring Section of the Environmental Health Laboratory Branch (EHLB) and the Exposure Assessment Section of the Environmental Health Investigations Branch (EHIB).
