TECHNICAL SKILLS

Required

  • Practical experience in the area of bacteria or yeast research
  • Knowledge of microbial physiology and metabolic networks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Supervisory experience of employees and/or students
  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. with 3+ years of experience in an appropriate science
  • Experience in a distillery, brewery or in the ethanol industry

An asset

  • Familiarity with fermentation and distillation processes
  • Experience in advanced statistical analysis and experimental design
  • Experience in the interpretation of large genomic and/or metabolomic datasets
  • Fluency in French

Responsibilities:

  • Designing, executing, analyzing and reporting of experiments;
  • Generating ideas on new commercial products and relevant research topics;
  • Developing new assays to answer technical questions;
  • Presenting results to R&D, sales, marketing and management team members;
  • Writing internal R&D reports;
  • Writing and revising Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Training and supervising interns and research assistants in the laboratory;
  • Collaborating with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams of scientists
