Education
Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position

Experience
- Practical experience in conducting research and/or technology development in chemical engineering related to reaction engineering, catalysis, catalyst synthesis, catalyst characterization, carbon capture and conversion, or hydrocarbon processing, involving bench-scale or pilot plant set-ups.
- Experience in planning, organizing, conducting, or executing research projects independently.
- Experience in collecting, analyzing, or interpreting experimental data.
- Experience in writing technical reports, publications, or research proposals.
- Demonstrated experience in presenting or communicating complex scientific issues and research results to professional, technical, or public audiences.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness to do field, laboratory, or pilot plant work
- Willingness to work overtime or work-shift
Responsibilities:
The RES-02 Research Scientist will be working on federal government funded research projects, and potentially client research projects, related to the carbon reduction and conversion and Downstream & Renewables group. The RES-02 will be responsible for conducting laboratory or pilot-scale experiments which includes, designing the experiments, gathering, analyzing, and processing data related to carbon capture and conversion. They will analyze and modify research methods, making recommendations for improvements as necessary. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for ordering necessary supplies and basic equipment for laboratory testing. They must also demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively within a research team.
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the chemical reaction engineering and catalysis and carbon dioxide capture and conversion. Proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Word and Excel is essential. The candidate must also be well-versed in laboratory procedures and housekeeping to maintain high standards of lab safety.
