An opportunity has arisen for a Research Scientist to support the RDCUK team, which are dedicated to advancing translational research in diagnostics by developing innovative assays and applications for Sysmex technology.
The Research Scientist will play a key role in advancing RDCUK’s mission by driving research projects aimed at developing cutting-edge diagnostic assays and characterisation tools for cell therapy. The role includes active participation in clinical trial activities, such as clinical assay development and validation, data interpretation, and ensuring compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements. The position also involves hands-on laboratory work, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and contribution to the scientific community through publications and presentations.
Responsibilities:
YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
- To conduct research projects on biological projects such as:
- Development of flow cytometry assays to assess immune cell functions
- Development of co-culture models
- Development of immune-based assays for protein measurement in clinical samples
- Validation of diagnostic biomarkers using clinical samples
- Molecular staining and cell imaging
- Nucleic acid analysis
- Assist with the day to day running of the laboratory, including:
- Maintenance of experimental and laboratory records, including those required by legislation e.g. Human Tissue Act
- Maintaining a safe working environment in the laboratory
- Ensuring adequate supplies of laboratory consumables and appropriate waste handling
- Promote the scientific reputation of RDCUK:
- Publication of research in scientific journals
- Maintain a high level of scientific knowledge and keep up to date with the latest publications in the field
- Present RDCUK research as scientific conferences
- To work together with other RDCUK scientists on joint projects as required
- To complete any other tasks as commensurate with the level and nature of the post as delegated by the Head of RDCUK.
