The Physics and Materials Science Department (DPhyMS) is embedded within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM). DPhyMS hosts 19 active research groups, which have an excellent international reputation and work on a broad range of fundamental and applied topics (quantum science and technology, statistical physics and machine learning, chemical physics, soft and living matter, photovoltaics - sustainable energy, spectroscopy and functional materials). The joint efforts of experimental and theoretical groups from this department result in breakthrough discoveries published in top-level international journals, multiple prestigious European and National grants, and in scientific collaborations with academic and industrial partners.
The University of Luxembourg (UL) invites candidates to apply for a Research Scientist position in the field of Quantum Mechanics, which is currently open at the Physics and Materials Science department (DPhyMS).

Responsibilities:

You will be a member of the Theoretical Chemical Physics (TCP) group at DPhyMS, FSTM, working under the supervision of Prof. Alexandre Tkatchenko, the group leader.

The applicant should:

  • Be active and engaged in research activity and projects of the research group TCP by developing original and innovative contributions
  • Have advanced knowledge of Quantum Mechanics
  • Advanced experience in state-of-the-art developments in Theoretical Physics
  • Experience in Quantum Information Theory
  • Experience in Quantum Computation
  • Participate actively in the supervision of junior group members (PhD students and Postdoctoral researchers)
  • Contribute to teaching
