Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Schweizer Research Group seeks a Scientist with expertise in antimicrobial resistance, healthcare-associated infections, and antimicrobial stewardship. This role will promote efforts to prevent Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections and Clostridioides difficile infections. Additionally, they will join the team developing and implementing clinical decision support tools to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
Across several projects, the Scientist will collaborate with the Division of Infectious Disease and Informatics and Information Technology Core within the Department of Medicine and the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. This Scientist will pursue Grant Proposals as a PI in collaboration with other researchers at UW-Madison and develop a scholarly publication record based on the research activities in this position. PhD in Health Services Research, pharmacy or related field and PharmD
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Post-doctoral fellowship experience focused on research in the areas of antimicrobial resistance, healthcare associated infections, and/or antimicrobial stewardship interventions in health systems.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional or academic setting.
- Experience with analyzing electronic health records from multiple health systems, data visualization, geospatial programming, qualitative methods, creation of clinical decision support tools, implementation science and clinical and translational research.
- A record of peer-reviewed publications that are focused in the areas of antimicrobial resistance, healthcare-associated infections, and antimicrobial stewardship.
Preferred:
- Experience working with and collaborating with low resourced health systems such as in rural counties or developing countries.
- Experience with health services research, implementation science research, and human factors engineering research.
Responsibilities:
Identifies research problems, designs research methodologies, performs research, and helps to prepare the results for presentation to professional organizations or for scholarly publications to help advance research.
- 10% Assists with the identification of research problems and the development of research methodologies and procedures
- 25% Collects and analyzes research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures under general supervision and limited responsibility
- 10% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities
- 15% Attends and assists with the facilitation of scholarly events and presentations in support of continued professional development and the dissemination of research information
- 10% Writes or assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding
- 10% Serves as a main point of contact and liaison with internal and external stakeholders providing information and representing the interests of a specialized research area
- 15% Assist with the development of novel clinical decision support tools.
- 5% Serve as the pharmacist lead of an antibiotic stewardship and infection prevention clinical intervention under general supervision and limited responsibility.
