We are looking for a Research Software Engineer (RSE) to partner with the Heath Informatics Research Group (School of Medicine) led by Professor Phil Quinlan.
The position is especially suitable for research-trained software engineers who can evidence a background in healthcare informatics, and moreover can demonstrate an interest and aptitude for working on secure data environments (SDEs) in collaboration with key partners, including the Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:
- Strong programming and design expertise, including Python, C#, Docker & Git.
- Experience working on health informatics projects, and in particular data storage and access platforms (e.g., SDEs).
- Ability to work independently using Agile software development practices.
- Research methods training (either via on-the-job or formal training).
The post is offered on a full-time (36.25 hours per week), fixed-term contract until 30 November 2027. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Please note this is a hybrid working role. As such, there is a requirement for the successful candidate to live within a reasonable commuting distance and to be able to attend in person for a minimum of two-days a week or as required.
We believe that talented and inclusive teams deliver the highest quality research and are seeking applications from high quality candidates who enhance the diversity of our existing team. To that end, we welcome and support applicants requiring flexible working arrangements.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Andy Rae, email ANDY.RAE@NOTTINGHAM.AC.UK. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role
