JOB DESCRIPTION
Research Specialist in Animal Welfare and Stress Physiology
The Research Specialist will play a key role in supporting and conducting research focused on animal welfare and stress physiology, with a particular emphasis on pigs. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including the setup and execution of experiments, data collection, animal husbandry, and laboratory maintenance. The research specialist will work closely with research personnel to ensure the well-being of research animals, maintain the integrity of experimental protocols, and supervise undergraduate staff involved in animal care and research activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Animal Science or a related field.
- Experience in animal research, particularly with pigs, is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and a willingness to learn new methodologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a research environment and supervise undergraduate personnel.
