Description:

Brandeis University is seeking to hire a Research Specialist II in the Biology lab. The Research Specialist II will undertake biomedical research in the Turrigiano lab. Duties will include designing, carrying out, and analyzing electrophysiology recordings from rodent neocortical neurons during plasticity and learning, to elucidate the mechanisms by which brain activity remains both plastic and stable.

Core Responsibilities -

  • Independently performs a wide range of complex and technically difficult experiments. Designs, redesigns, executes and troubleshoots. Recommends type of experiments and research to achieve objectives. 50%
  • Makes detailed observations, records data, analyzes a wide variety of data using statistical methods and other computational tools. Writes and updates analysis code as needed. 20%
  • Independently prepares technical reports for publication, with summary and details, and complex related quantitative analyses. 15%
  • May mentor and train less experienced lab staff. 10%
  • Performs other assignments as needed. 5%

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Biology or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience is required.
