Description:

This position will be housed in the Center for Community Health (CCH) which provides a home for a diverse array of academic investigators, community partners, and staff members, who are all dedicated to promoting health through the conduct and dissemination of community-engaged research. As a center with a presence in the both the Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM) and Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS), CCH provides community and stakeholder engagement infrastructure across the research spectrum.
This position will be with the Mothers and Babies (MB) Program in the Center for Community Health. Mothers and Babies is a cognitive behavioral therapy-based intervention that aims to prevent postpartum depression among predominately low-income racial/ethnic minority women. This position will support several research studies within the Mothers and Babies Program. Main responsibilities will include participant outreach (including recruitment, screening, enrollment, and data collection); documenting outreach and organizing collected data; and assisting with mailings and participant remuneration.
Performs biomedical &/or social-behavioral research by administering tests &/or questionnaires following protocols; collecting, compiling, tabulating &/or processing responses; gathering information; &/or assisting in the preparation of material for inclusion in reports. Completes all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND ANY OTHER CERTIFICATIONS OR CLEARANCES)

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Must complete NU’s IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, in-person and via phone/web
  • Exceptional organizational skills, time management, efficiency, and personal accountability
  • Excellent with Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)

  • Education in a field relevant to public health, women’s health, social work, or psychology, biostatistics.
  • Experience working with at-risk populations, preferably in community settings.
  • Previous research experience.

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES: (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Knowledge of REDCap.
    Target hiring range for this position will be between $17.05 to $23.98 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities:

Technical

  • Recruits study participants.
  • Reviews & obtains informed consent.
  • Schedules study visits with participants.
  • Conducts interviews.
  • Scores test results.
  • Collects survey data.
  • Facilitates communication with key personnel & participants to maintain project study flow.

Administration

  • Maintains detailed records of results which may include collecting, extracting & entering data; &/or preparing basic charts & graphs.
  • Performs scientific literature searches in support of research.

Supervision

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
