Description:

The Department of Food Science and Technology Food is looking to hire a Research Technician 3 to work in Dr. Farnaz Makely’s research laboratory. Responsibilities will include conducting research in food pilot plant environments; design, perform, document scientific research projects, and coordinate data generation and analysis; install and maintain laboratory equipment; train undergraduate students and lab visitors on the use of laboratory equipment; perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by Principal Investigators.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Food Chemistry, or a related discipline required. Master’s or PhD desired in Food Science, Chemistry, Food Chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience needed.
  • Proficiency in food analysis principles and experience with laboratory equipment.
  • Competency in MATLAB and image analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of food chemistry and physical properties.
    This job profile is a Research Technician 3 (T3 level) position on the career roadmap.
    The salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
