Research technician
Job Summary:
Reporting to Dr. Gabrielle Gutierrez, the research technician will assist in research tasks in the Barnard Neural Computation Lab such as analyzing connectome data, writing code scripts for analysis, documenting findings, presenting research, and training student researchers.
Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Writing code scripts for analysis of connectome data. Consulting with PI and collaborators regarding connectome analyses and interpretation of results. Meticulous documentation of methods, protocols, and findings. Training undergraduate student researchers in connectome research techniques. Organizing digital and physical lab resources. Assistance with administrative tasks such as coordinating lab meetings, creating lab policies, and writing/editing lab manuals. Performing additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
There is only 1 position available and it is under the sole supervision of Gabrielle Gutierrez. Technician will receive general supervision and broad instructions. They are expected to plan and arrange their own work to achieve the defined objectives.
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must have experience/familiarity with scientific computing, including Python and Matlab skills and experience with high powered computing cluster resources. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required.
Qualifications:
- Recent graduate with B.A. or B.S. degree in a STEM field, preferably Neuroscience.
- One year of research experience in a computational neuroscience lab.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Salary range $50,000 - $59,000
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
