Research Technician I (Schmiedel Lab)

JOB SUMMARY:

A full-time position for a research technician is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Benjamin Schmiedel at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (La Jolla, CA). The Schmiedel lab genomic tools and computational approaches to understand the genetic and immunological basis of human diseases. The research involves working with human blood cells, various methods in cellular immunology, molecular biology, flow cytometry, and high-throughput next generation sequencing technologies (single cell RNA-sequencing, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq). Experience in any of the above-mentioned techniques is a plus; however, pertinent training will be provided. This position requires a 2-4-year commitment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum requirements for this position include: a bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in biology, biochemistry or related field; 1-2 years of lab experience in an academic setting is preferable, but not necessary; the ability to illustrate the conceptual significance of previous work/training experiences.
