Description:

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

The HAB Lab (Human-Animal Bond Lab) is seeking a motivated candidate to assist in carrying out human-animal interaction research. Projects include a national study examining the effects of service dogs on therapy for veterans with PTSD and ongoing research examining the benefits of positive interactions with dogs on human health and wellbeing. The candidate will be expected to assist with day to day research activities, including executing research protocols, conducting data collection, participant communication, and data management, and providing guidance to undergraduate research assistants.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Zoom
  • Knowledge of ethical principles surrounding human subjects research
  • Attention to detail and consistency demonstrated by previous work or academic experience
  • Ability to work as a member of a team to meet project goals
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of research experience.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection
  • Experience with REDCap, Qualtrics, or similar survey instruments preferred, but not required

Responsibilities:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate data collection
  • Work directly with human and animal participants to conduct data collection for research studies
  • Assist in creating study materials and assessment measures
  • Conduct participant recruitment, consenting, and communication
  • Administer semi-structured interviews to participants
  • Coordinate data collection activities and scheduling
  • Collect and manage data
  • Assist in ensuring data integrity and organization
  • Data entry, checking, and cleaning
  • Ensuring data security and maintaining participant confidentiality
  • Assist in compiling data status reports (IRB, IACUC, and/or funders)
  • Assist in building and maintaining project databases (i.e., REDCap)
  • Provides research administration support
  • Assist with daily research support under supervision of the PI
  • Maintain organization of physical and virtual spaces and files
  • Assist in administrative and financial tasks as needed
  • Foster and maintain an inclusive, productive working environment
