Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Lee lab within the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine focuses on the molecular pathogenesis of acute lung injury from severe pneumonia and sepsis. The group studies host-pathogen interactions utilizing relevant respiratory pathogens to understand the basis of normal and aberrant host response that impact the function of the alveolar capillary barrier interface. The technician will be responsible for the mouse genetics, maintenance of an online mouse colony database, execution and assistance with the technical parts of studies and experiments, and documentation and material preparation in a high-impact research laboratory.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
- Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
- Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and up to 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 4 years.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
- Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
- Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
- Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
