Research Technician
The Kelsoe lab in the Department of Integrative Immunobiology at Duke University School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician II. Our lab investigates the fundamental and applied aspects of humoral immunity to vaccination and infection.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic about science and research, and have excellent organizational skills. Prior research experience is required. Experience with cell culture, molecular genetic techniques, protein purification is necessary, experience with mouse husbandry is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences
  • Prior research experience in some area of biological sciences
  • Willingness to work with miceDesire to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a team

EDUCATION

Work generally requires skills acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other science related scientific field program.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on an exciting research project related the human immune response to influenza.
  • Performing routine cell culture and specialized cell culture to characterize individual human B lymphocytes.
  • Conducting biochemical, cellular, and molecular biology assays, including immunoassays, protein production, cDNA generation, sequence analysis.
  • Assist in husbandry for a transgenic mouse colony (breeding, genotyping, record-keeping).
  • Help visiting scientists and postdoctoral fellows.Cooperate with all lab members to optimize productivity and collegiality.
