Description:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of basic molecular and cell biology techniques
  • Ability to collect experimental data and handle animals.
  • Self-motivated and readily learns and adapts to new techniques
  • Works effectively and efficiently both independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, timely report experimental progress or problems
  • Ability to follow the instruction and keeping detailed experimental records.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and research experience.
  • Experience obtained via college coursework. Research experience in a research laboratory is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with small animals a plus.
  • Experience in scope/imaging, cell culture, molecular biology, histology is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and analyze echocardiographic measurements of cardiac function and blood flow.
  • Performs experiments in histology and immunostaining, imaging (Confocal and MP).
  • Maintains genetically-modified mouse colonies, which includes rodent work, and related experimentation (dissections, injections of biological compounds, minor and major surgeries).
  • Perform RNA extraction/ real-time PCR, protein extraction/ Western blot and cell culture.
  • Collection, preparation, and cataloging of tissue samples.
