Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Barry lab in the Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction is seeking to appoint a Research Technician in Cancer Biology and Gut Health to support a UKRI-funded project focused on studying active hydrolases and hydrolase regulators in colorectal cancer using ‘omics’ and advanced gut-culture models. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Principal Investigator and collaborating closely with clinical and fundamental science researchers within the Barry team and partnering laboratories. The post will have a varied role with wet laboratory, research, administration and compliance aspects.
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
You will support the day-to-day running of the Barry laboratory, assist with training/supervision of students and staff and carry out wet laboratory experiments including standard molecular biology techniques, protein assays (western analysis, enzyme kinetics and proteomics) and organoid culture. You will be responsible for laboratory support, including stock and consumable maintenance, laboratory compliance, and ensuring safety procedures are in place. You will be part of a thriving group of interdisciplinary researchers and students, and benefit from access and training from specialist facilities including the the NIHR Imperial BRC organoid facility.
