Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a highly motivated Research Technician to join the section of Obstetrics and Gynaecology based at Chelsea and Westminster Campus. The successful candidate will join the team under the supervision of Professor Mark Johnson.
The role is essential for research purposes, looking at patient’s treatment outcomes and for managing clinical trials that take place. It is essential that all patient samples are processed, catalogued, stored and shipped properly and according to the processes needed and appropriate for each study within each study protocol. The post includes the opportunity to perform and gain experience in a very wide range of advanced techniques, including cellular and molecular assays. The successful candidate will be expected to work with samples such as maternal blood, urine, placental biopsies and umbilical cord blood. Some lab assays will be required outside of normal working hours.
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
The team provides support to clinical trials with novel diagnostic assays and through the processing and viable storage of clinical samples. This role involves liaison with the NHS clinical staff and Research Nurses to process assays which translate into routine clinical practice.
