Description:
JOB SUMMARY
This research position in the Department of Dermatology will be part of a team that performs research aimed at deciphering the biological processes that promote pathological tissue inflammation and fibrosis.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Performs research experiments in genetic manipulation in mice.
- Plans, conducts, and analyzes results of research experiments.
- Performs technical procedures in a research laboratory under minimal supervision by applying standard scientific techniques and analytical principles.
- Records observations and measurements and reports results.
- May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- May assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials, ordering and stocking of materials and equipment, and techniques to be followed in conducting research and recommends modifications as needed.
- Performs PCR, histology and other molecular procedures using laboratory equipment.
- Monitors and assists with purchasing of laboratory supplies and materials.
- Conducts literature reviews to obtain abstracts and information to be utilized in research.
- Makes statistical calculations, analyzes data and prepares reports summarizing results.
- May supervise the care of research animals; perform minor animal surgery or collect animal tissues and specimens for laboratory analysis.
General Responsibilities
- Performs a wide variety of complex experiments and reports results
- Keeps organized analytical data of performed experiments
- Provides support for equipment maintenance as needed
- Acts as a liaison to students and laboratory personnel for training
- Maintains laboratory supply requisition and management
- May train junior-level staff.
- May help plan experiments or short-term goals.
