Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The main purpose of this position is to assist in projects that aim to understand disease mechanisms and test candidate therapeutic targets for frontotemporal dementia, motor neuron disease, and Alzheimer’s disease, using the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster as the primary model system.
The technician will be an active member of the research group and assist in executing the research programme in order to meet the overall objectives of the projects. They will work under the direct supervision of the PI. As the projects progress, the post holder will be expected to work increasingly independently and provide input into the design and execution of experiments. The role holder will provide technical support by assisting with lab organisation, training of new lab members, performing experimental procedures, and analysing results. They will have experience and knowledge relevant to the project’s research area.
This role is a fixed term role until 31.05.2025 in the first instance, and we will consider applications to work on a part-time basis.
