The research technician position offers an opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research on blood stem cells using microfluidics technology. We are looking for self-motivated and enthusiastic research scientists/engineers who are excited about biomedical and bioengineering research. You will bring expertise in some relevant aspects of microfluidics research but also a broader understanding and interest in blood stem cell biology.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION NEEDED

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in microfluidics fabrication techniques and cleanroom protocols. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to details are essential.

  • HNC, HND, undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience in engineering, physics or biology
  • Experience with cell and molecular biology is desirable
  • Previous laboratory experience and skills in specific techniques such as cell culture, live-cell microscopy, microfluidics, image analysis and archiving would be desirable
  • Prior experience with CAD Software for micro-mechanical design would be desirable

Responsibilities:

The individual will work and collaborate with students/postdocs to define the range of forces that can cause physical, biochemical and cell fate changes in primary blood stem cells. The day to day tasks involve operating microfabrication-specific equipment such as lithography systems and deposition chambers, as well as biological techniques such as cell culture and transfection.
