Description:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) years experience as a laboratory technician, research aide, OR equivalent; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field of science OR technology; OR equivalent education/experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with preparing and administering hormones to mice and rats.
- Experience handling rodents and performing routine procedures/surgeries.
- Knowledge in the maintenance of rodent breeding colonies.
- Experience with following biosecurity protocols.
- Ability to learn to use specialized equipment.
- Ability to communicate with diverse populations.
- Experience with scientific research protocols and laboratory standard operating procedure.
- Experience working with laboratory animals.
- Experimental and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
The Washington State University (WSU) Center for Reproductive Biology (CRB) is one of the largest reproductive biology centers in the world. The center provides opportunities for investigators to collaborate, learn from one another, and advance the understanding of reproductive biology, developmental biology, and associated diseases.
Under direct supervision, you will work with a collaborative Genomics Initiative team to identify, develop, test, and implement methods for inducing superovulation, culture of embryos, and genetic modifications of embryos from traditional and non-traditional small animal models. You will assist in designing, planning, and organizing research project logistics, and analyzing results. You will assist in the management of mouse/rat breeding colonies and generation of gene edited research models. Individual is actively involved in lab meetings and presentation of completed scientific work.
