POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Research Technologist II is responsible for applying technical knowledge and skills to perform moderately complex laboratory procedures and experiments. Assignments will be broadly outlined and frequently require some theoretical insight, the interpretation of empirical data and the ability to find and extract pertinent information from technical literature.
You will share in the responsibility of running the laboratory, assist in day-to-day management, mouse work, and colony management at The Centre for Phenogenomics (TCP). Additionally, you will provide technical assistance for a project studying the role of peroxisome in adipocyte differentiation and fat tissue expansion. You will report directly to the Principal Investigator.
Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the organization of a project or the laboratory on a daily basis, either alone or with other employees
- Performing cell culture experiment using preadipocytes and adipocytes
- Provide technical assistance to students, fellows, and researchers
- Perform under general supervision a variety of diversified assignments of a technical nature
- Maintain lab equipment and provide slide scanning service
- Plan tests, measure, and make simple components
- Assist in developing, devising, or improving existing methods and procedures
- Communicate and maintain records of experimental data
- Assume responsibility for accuracy of techniques using established policies and procedures to resolve technical problems
- Demonstrate willingness to learn and accept responsibility
- Assist and/or train other personnel
