Description:
We are seeking a driven Research Technologist to play a role in a variety of projects ongoing in the laboratory. The successful candidate will be expected to have a basic set of research laboratory skills with the interest in developing and becoming proficient in a large repertoire of research techniques. The position will report to Dr. Zarif on a day-to-day basis. This position will be under the general supervision of a faculty investigator or laboratory supervisor, this position is responsible for performing routine analyses and tests on animal or human fluids and/or tissue or cultured cell lines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred

Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tasks and complete routine assays following common or established protocols and procedures.
- Uses basic science knowledge to learn techniques/methods of the lab.
- Gain problem solving skills through progressive training, understanding of the research, and experience. Run laboratory tests and complete measurements assigned.
- Identify and resolves common problems involved in routine research assays.
- Train users in standard equipment operation and routine lab techniques and procedures.
- Set-up experiments based on defined standards. Collect project data. Prepare, test, and maintain standard laboratory equipment. Perform related laboratory maintenance, monitoring inventory of supplies, cleaning equipment.
- Maintains manual of procedures for study/studies.
- Will be tasked with maintenance of mouse animal colonies.
- Will be tasked to assist in studies involving small animal models.
- May be tasked to help in the acquisition and initial processing of clinical samples
- Ordering supplies and equipment internal and external to the University
- Maintaining safety compliance
- Other duties as assigned.
