You will join the Nutrition and health unit and conduct food systems policy research as part of two European projects: The Joint Action JA-Prevent NCD (Cancer and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and the FEAST project (www.feast2030.eu).
The FEAST project aims to advance the state of the art in research and innovation by bringing together different disciplines across the food system and, importantly, underpinning food actors’ behavioural dimensions, which is often missing in food system solutions. This approach will stimulate the co-creation of novel, practical and scalable community-based, technology-based and policy-based solutions. This position will contribute to work package 3 (mapping factors that shape food environments) and WP7 (policy dialogues to inform food systems governance).
The aim of the Joint Action JA-Prevent NCD is to support strategies and policies designed to reduce the burden of cancer and other NCDs, their common risk factors both at a personal and societal level, and to define methods to assess their effectiveness and efficiency across Europe. This position will contribute to work package 9 on health in all policies. The overall objective of WP9 is to strengthen the integration of health and health equity perspectives in policymaking across sectors. More specifically the research will focus on strengthening the use of existing process indicators for policies on improved nutrition and assessing enablers and obstacles in implementation of evidence-based nutrition policies in selected countries.

Your tasks include:

  • To contribute to an analysis of mapping food systems policies by local governments in a selected number of local jurisdictions in Europe and an analysis of the barriers and facilitators to local policy design and implementation (FEAST)
  • To contribute to a framing analysis including several actors (governments, industry) on zoning policies related to fast food (FEAST)
  • To develop a protocol for a rapid review of food system policies in a range of European countries building further on the Food-EPI work previously conducted in 11 EU countries (Joint Action Prevent NCDs)
  • To contribute to dissemination and reporting activities for both projects.

You join a team of public health experts and epidemiologists, and have the opportunity to interact with international experts and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • To contribute to an analysis of mapping food systems policies by local governments in a selected number of local jurisdictions in Europe and an analysis of the barriers and facilitators to local policy design and implementation (FEAST)
  • To contribute to a framing analysis including several actors (governments, industry) on zoning policies related to fast food (FEAST)
  • To develop a protocol for a rapid review of food system policies in a range of European countries building further on the Food-EPI work previously conducted in 11 EU countries (Joint Action Prevent NCDs)
  • To contribute to dissemination and reporting activities for both projects
