Description:
UNIVERSITY OF COPENHAGEN
We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic researcher with expertise in analysis and interpretation of high-throughput multi-omics data (genome-wide association data and multi-modal single cell sequencing data) to work in the Hansen Group for Genomic Physiology and Translation. The position is a 2-year position to start May 1, 2025, or after agreement.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project aims to use multi-modal single-cell sequencing to partition the genetic risk of metabolic diseases. The project will be based on human large intestinal biopsies, which will be subjected to multiple single-cell, spatial, and other omics assays. Using this multi-modal dataset in combination with extensive GWAS data available at the CBMR, the goal is to partition the genetic risk of metabolic diseases across tissues and cell types. This will drastically increase the resolution for analysing GWAS data in its proper biological and clinical context.
PROFILE
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and qualifications:
- PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology or similar.
- Minimum of three years of postdoc experience.
- Strong project management and coordination skills.
- High level of proficiency in programming and experience in applying statistical methods to genomic data (preferably in the statistical programming language R).
- Experience with various types of post-GWAS analyses (e.g., partitioned heritability, cell type enrichments, statistical fine-mapping, colocalization, polygenic risk scores, eQTLs and caQTLs).
- Experience with single-cell sequencing analysis and multi-omics data analysis (study design, QC and preprocessing, dimensionality reduction and clustering, cell type label transfer, GWAS enrichment, enhancer-promoter mapping).
- Knowledge of intestinal physiology and cellular and molecular mechanisms in relation to metabolic regulation and disease.
- The ability to interpret and communicate complicated statistical and genetic results to molecular biologists and clinicians in a translation setting.
- Previous experience in working with hospital biobanks and sensitive patient data.
- Experience in coordinating hospital-university-industry collaborations, including legal agreements.
- Interest in teaching and supervision of MSc students, PhD students and other researchers at different levels.
- Proven track record showing scientific productivity in peer reviewed journals.
- Proven track record in grant application writing and securing grants.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficiency in Danish highly beneficial.
