The group of Environmental Chemistry at ETH Zürich is seeking a highly motivated and qualified person to fill a position for the development of an inventory of fluoropolymer uses and alternatives to fluoropolymers. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team working on the risk assessment and management of chemicals in the environment with a strong focus on PFASs (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a researcher in this project, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collection of information about fluoropolymer types, properties, uses and use amounts as well as alternatives to fluoropolymers from a wide range of sources (scientific literature, technical reports, product reports by companies, patents, etc.)
  • Setting up an inventory of fluoropolymer types and uses and suitable alternatives (where available)
  • Mapping the available information and analyzing gaps in the available information
  • Assessing as many fluoropolymer uses as possible according to the Essential-Use Concept
  • Preparing reports and a scientific publication about the project findings
  • Participating in meetings and workshops
