Description:

We are recruiting for a Researcher in our Research Team, based at one of the following offices (Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow or Belfast) with flexible working.
Our Researchers work closely with colleagues across all parts of our business, helping to turn data and information into insight to support our clients. The Research Team, with the firm’s Knowledge Lawyers, deliver both legal and business research to support client activity, business development and sector and strategic research.
This is a permanent full-time role attached to a TLT Office in the Research Team, which sits within the Managed Legal Services group.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A degree or equivalent professional experience in Business, Research, or Information / Knowledge Management (or relevant discipline);
  • Understands B2B / secondary / desktop research and has relevant experience of knowledge, information and research in a professional services environment. Knowledge of and experience applying business and competitive intelligence analysis frameworks is desirable.
  • Highly experienced and confident in undertaking online research using a wide variety of business databases and news sources.
  • Ability to develop a good understanding of the work of TLT’s sectors and groups to appreciate internal clients’ information needs, to identify relevant knowledge and effectively draft/edit summaries and disseminate such content.
  • Ability to build a credible reputation as a trusted adviser on business research matters, both within the immediate team and amongst internal clients.
  • Ability to manage demanding workloads with strict deadlines.
  • Exceptional time management, planning and organisational skills, a methodical approach and attention to detail.
  • Strong inter-personal communication skills with the ability to effectively scope research requests from clients, negotiate deadlines, and present research results at all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent written and technical skills to deliver results in relevant formats including data-driven analysis, written reports and presentations. Experience contributing to professional reports and/or written content is desirable.
  • Analytical ability, in particular an ability to summarise and analyse large amounts of information and draw out key insights. Experience with infographics, data analytics or visualisations is desirable.
  • Ability to work flexibly as a collaborative and supportive team member and able to work independently using own initiative when required, maintaining a positive, solutions-focused attitude.

Responsibilities:

As a Researcher, your day-to-day remit includes:

  • Undertaking a full range of business research to help our lawyers and colleagues across the business better understand our clients and the sectors and markets they operate in. Working with Researcher colleagues this may include producing company profiles, sector and market research, and competitive intelligence research.
  • Liaising with and supporting our Marketing & Business Development colleagues in their research and information needs.
  • Providing research support to the Research Manager (Business Intelligence) to assist with business development activities and firm strategic projects as required. You will help develop regular business research insights and analysis to support decision making and commercial opportunities.
  • Providing research support to the Research Manager (Legal) to assist with current awareness and horizon scanning when required.
  • Using technology to regularly monitor economic, business and industry news to identify developments and trends that impact the legal market, our clients, sectors, and markets of interest.
  • Empowering end users across TLT to engage with and maximise usage of our business and company research resources effectively through trialling, promotion and training.
  • Supporting and advising on knowledge sharing behaviours amongst the wider firm.
