Description:
Join us as a Reservoir and Spring Maintenance Technician to help us maintain our service reservoirs, water towers and production tanks.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
We are looking for someone who loves working outdoors in a physically demanding, varied and challenging role.
Previous experience in service and mainlaying, as well as using disc cutters, strimmers and hand tools is preferred, as you’ll be using these pieces of equipment regularly.
You’ll need to be IT literate, as your work can be allocated through your mobile and laptop. You’ll also be highly motivated and able to work effectively within a team and on your own.
Due to the remote nature of this role, you will need to hold a valid UK driving licence as you will be expected to drive and travel to different sites. If you hold a license where you can tow trailers, this would be beneficial.
You will also be physically able to work in confined spaces and work at height, so you will be required to pass a medical and a confined spaces course.
WHO WE ARE
We are one of the top-performing water and sewerage companies in England and Wales, serving 2.9 million people across the South West.
The work we do goes beyond providing an essential public service. We also aim to have a positive impact on the communities we serve and the natural environment.
Our people tell us Wessex Water is a great place to work, which is why so many of them stay with us! You will have the opportunity to develop and progress your career, while also receiving health and wellbeing support.
We also continue to promote diversity and inclusion – with that in mind, all applicants are welcome. We are delighted to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and are a Disability Confident Employer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us and if you would like to be part of our journey, we would love to hear from you. Please do not hesitate to let us know about any additional support you may need.
Responsibilities:
Around half your time will be spent undertaking cleans and inspections on service reservoirs, water towers and production tanks to maintain drinking water quality and ensure we are compliant with DWI regulations.
For the rest of the time, you will be responsible for maintaining our spring sources and impounding reservoirs. This includes strimming, chainsaw usage, excavating, pipe replacements and chamber maintenance.
Although you’ll be based in Upton Scudamore, near Warminster, you will work across the Wessex Water region (predominantly Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire). A company vehicle will be provided.
