Alief - International Services YMCA is a unique branch of the YMCA of Greater Houston that seeks to meet the needs of Houston’s significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. As a Case Manager on our team, you will play an integral role in helping refugees, asylees, Cuban border crossers, Special Immigrant Visa holders and victims of human trafficking gain access to a wide range of social support services with the goal of becoming self-sufficient.

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Fluency in Dari/ Pashto required
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Excellent customer service skills; conflict resolution skills preferred
  • Previous work with diverse populations strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to social services and/or relevant professional experience
  • Very good organizational, effective time and resource management skills
  • Valid driver’s license, exceptional driving record, automobile liability insurance, and a vehicle.

Responsibilities:

DUTIES /RESPONSIBILITIES

The International Case Manager (CM) will assess clients’ needs in relation to the resettlement program. CM will work with clients in establishing individualized service plans. Responsibilities include:

  • Completing applications for SNAP/Medicaid and referral to the Refugee Medical Assistance Program
  • Ensure that all core services are provided in a timely manner
  • Provide translation, transportation, and interpretation as needed to facilitate clients access to services
  • Assist with initial Community Orientation
  • Develop a self-sufficiency plan
  • Provide referrals and verify attendance to English as a Second Language classes
  • Provide guidance and emergency services for clients in crisis
  • Enrollment of children in school
  • Prepare and submit reports as required by the Program Coordinator
  • Maintain Case Files and enter applicable information into the YMCA database, Refugee Management System (RMS)
  • Reception of clients at the airport and transportation to client apartments as assigned.
  • Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
  • Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Examples include but are not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of time sheets.
