Description:

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity with a dynamic, global organization? Welcome to EF International Language Campus Cape Town! We provide language classes, accommodation and activities to students from all-over the world. We love what we do, and we are looking for people who love what they do too – as this makes the difference to the student experience and our vibrant school community!
EF International Language Campuses in Cape Town is looking for a talented and exceptional individual to join its team! We seek a motivated, responsible, dynamic, and community-building individual to take on the exciting challenge of working in an international environment. Previous experience as a Resident Advisor (RA) is always a plus, but it is not required!

ABOUT THE POSITION:

As a RA at EF you have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a diverse, international student population. The position provides great flexibility and requires you to wear many hats including administrator, leader, event coordinator, role model, counsellor, and policy enforcer (to name a few). This is a job where we truly ask you to bring your personality to the position. You will report directly to the Accommodations Manager and assist them with associated tasks.
Shifts mostly occur during nights and weekends, with two full days or fours half days required at school in the accommodation office. We may ask for occasional assistance with EF events and activities.
While on duty, you will be performing administrative tasks and be on call in the residence to assist with student’s needs and queries. You will assist with student check-in’s every weekend (Saturdays and Sundays), with Sunday’s being the most important day to attend to this. You will also work closely with building management and will need to keep a logbook at the residence and record your inspections. We also ask that you help plan and organize activities, do weekly room checks, and attend staff meetings. Additional shifts may be requested to meet the demands of the school operations.
We are looking for RA’s that not only are friendly and personable while working at the residence, but also can build meaningful connections with the students at the residence while handling discipline.
The part-time nature of the position gives the RA time to pursue additional qualifications while working. Please note, taking night classes cannot conflict with you RA duties during the week.

REQUIREMENTS:

Fluent English-speaking abilities
Bachelor’s degree (or persuing one)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g. creating reels, engaging posts) is an asset (but not essential)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous experience working with international students or in a residential setting
Knowledge of cultural differences and ability to adapt to diverse backgrounds
