Good Shepherd Shelter is a program of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc., which is a transitional shelter for women, and children who are escaping domestic violence. The shelter provides shelter in individual apartment units at no cost, case management, trauma-informed therapy for mothers and children, an on-site elementary school, an adult learning center, food, and legal resources.
Good Shepherd Shelter is seeking a dependable, caring individual who has experience working with a transitional shelter or has a passion for helping those in need.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of high school or the equivalent.
- Six to twelve months of related experience.
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Great communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills
- Good conversation skills and a friendly demeanor
- Able to work independently with little supervision
- Able to maintain organized logs of activities and services provides
- Physically capable of doing work that requires standing, lifting, bending, and pushing

Responsibilities:
- Point of contact for residents in case of emergency.
- Responsible for coordinating rooms of shelter.
- Conduct rounds of shelter.
- Assists residents with problems and questions.
- Knowledge and experience in dealing with domestic violence and how it affects families.
- Answers phones and monitors front door and guest.
- Ensures shelter residents comply with rules and policies of the program.
- Observes and records significant activities.
- Oversees volunteer activities.
