Description:

The Residency Program Coordinator performs and integrates the administrative aspects of the pharmacy technician internal training program. This position acts as a liaison between the pharmacy service center, accrediting body (ASHP), allied health oversight, graduate medical education (GME), and the technical staff in training.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily coordination of the system’s pharmacy technician training program.
  • Perform the duties of Program Coordinator as outlined in the American Society of Health System Pharmacy (ASHP) pharmacy technician training manual as the lead administrative person in the development of the training program.
  • Serve as the liaison to the vendor solution for the training program didactic modules.
  • Assist with new technician on-boarding, program milestones, and graduation as well as placement within UPMC.
  • Assist with financial reporting including budget preparation, budget monitoring, reimbursements, and disbursements for the pharmacy technician training program utilizing the appropriate correct account.
  • Assist with the writing of the ASHP application and ensure knowledge of the ASHP requirements to assist the Program Director in completing the initial application, and subsequently, maintaining ASHP accreditation.
  • In conjunction with the Program Director, coordinate the community and core faculty development program as required for the initiation of the pharmacy technician training program.
  • Photocopy, file, mail, order supplies, and other general office responsibilities.
  • Prepare and transcribe letters, memos, and other correspondence for the training program.
  • Assist with the marketing and recruiting of the pharmacy technician training program.
  • Facilitate submission of all documents for and monitor maintenance of appropriate registration of pharmacy technicians in the training program. Acts as a liaison to the boards of pharmacy on technician training and advancement on behalf of UPMC.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, education, or related field preferred.
  • Five years of experience as a pharmacy technician and involvement in a didactic training program can offset the degree requirement.
  • Proficient computer skills including use of the internet, PowerPoint, Excel, spreadsheets, Word, and related software required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills are necessary.
  • Ability to meet deadlines required.Experience with pharmacy technician training is preferred.
