Description:
JOB OVERVIEW
The Youth Worker plays a vital role in supporting and guiding children and adolescents in various settings. This position involves working closely with young individuals to promote their social, emotional, and educational development. The Youth Worker will create a safe and nurturing environment that encourages positive interactions and personal growth. The Hours of operation this position requires is from 8AM - 4PM
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience working with children or adolescents in educational or recreational settings is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with youth, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to educate youth on various topics including social skills, conflict resolution, and personal development.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations are essential qualities.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that respects diversity among youth.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed based on program requirements but primarily day shift.
- Bachelor of Social Work Degree preferred, however, consideration may be given to applicants with a minimum of 2 years related experience working in a similar profession.
- A valid class 5 Drivers License.
- Experience in the delivery of First Nation Child and Family Services is a strong asset.
- Excellent organization and writing skills.
- First Aid Certification.
- Food Safe Certification.
- CPI Certification.

Responsibilities:
- Engage with children and adolescents to build trusting relationships and foster a sense of belonging.
- Plan and implement educational activities that promote learning and skill development.
- Provide guidance and support in resolving conflicts and addressing behavioral issues.
- Collaborate with parents, educators, and other professionals to develop individualized support plans for youth.
- Monitor the progress of youth in various programs, providing feedback and encouragement.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions, activities, and progress reports for each child or adolescent.
- Facilitate group discussions and activities that encourage teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and reporting any concerns promptly.
