Salary & Hours: £23,262-£24,775 pro rata per annum to reflect term time working based on 38 hours per week (4 nights) (£26,003-£27,693 FTE)Term time (41 working weeks, including training days)

Responsibilities:

ROLE SUMMARY:

The overall purpose of this position is to provide a ‘waking night’ presence and respond to any needs of children/young adults should they be awake during the night. Fundamental responsibilities are to safeguard the health and safety of the residents in the house during the evening, nights and early mornings and to provide timely and effective handovers with other colleagues to facilitate continuity of care. Secondary responsibilities include undertaking routine domestic and/or administrative duties.
This post constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as set out in Schedule 4 of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 as a consequence an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate and Children and Adults Workforce Barred check will be required.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The post-holder will be responsible for:
· Ensuring that the building is checked for any fire risks, health, hygiene and security issues and to tour the house every 30 minutes with due regard for the above.
· Undertaking general domestic duties as and when required in agreement with the House Coordinator/ Registered Manager.
· Supporting children/young adults as necessary in relation to their Person centred support plan including the use of physical intervention upon the receipt of appropriate training.
· Provide immediate response and suitable support to students and colleagues to address, and where possible de-escalate, incidents involving challenging behaviour.
· Provide immediate support and response to medical emergences
· Maintain timely, concise and accurate records in appropriate house and pupil log books.
· Following at all times The Sheiling Ringwood policies and procedures with due regard to child/adult protection and health and safety.
· Maintaining professional confidentiality at all times.
· Maintaining a flexible approach to work and responding appropriately to situations faced including assisting with aspects of intimate personal care.
· Attending all relevant induction and training programmes organised by The Sheiling Ringwood.
