POSITION OVERVIEW:
WCS is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Residential Route Supervisor (RRS) to lead and supervise waste and recycling pick-up operations in West Vancouver, Lion’s Bay and the North Shore. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing daily service delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and municipal requirements, and leading a team of drivers in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
As an RRS, you will foster a culture of positive leadership, coordinate with municipal partners, and work closely with the WCS team to uphold our high service standards. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing staff, optimizing routes, addressing customer concerns, and ensuring operational excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced, operational environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, resolve conflicts, and provide constructive feedback.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven commitment to exceptional customer service and operational excellence.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with database programs or CRM systems (UKG is an asset).
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 3 is an asset) and clean driving record.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of drivers to ensure daily operations run smoothly and safely.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and enforce WCS safety protocols, ensuring all employees adhere to safety guidelines.
- Review and optimize routes for efficiency, adjusting for performance and minimizing labor costs.
- Perform route observations and provide feedback to ensure high-quality service and compliance with company procedures.
- Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Communicate daily with municipal partners to ensure all routes are completed on time and address any challenges that arise.
- Oversee driver time and attendance, including payroll approvals, route sheets, disposal tickets, and non-compliance documentation.
- Complete accident and injury reports, conduct investigations into accidents, and manage workers’ compensation and property damage claims.
- Conduct performance evaluations, track employee attendance, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
- Lead regular meetings with drivers to reinforce a positive attitude, commitment to service, and passion for the role.
