Description:
About the role…:
Are you someone who likes to organise others? Would you consider yourself someone who is on the ball and can quickly adapt?
Our Transformation & Business Services team in the Midlands are growing, and we’re currently seeking a Resource Manager to join them on their journey.
This role is crucial to the efficient and robust running of our audit department and will involve liaising with stakeholders internally to capture forecasted as well as day to day client and project resource needs. We are looking for someone who will be on top of the communication as you keep all stakeholders updated with resource availability and changes.
This is an opportunity to get your hands on an instrumental role, as you will be overseeing the Resource Coordinators workload and outputs in addition to monitoring utilisation of both our audit team and offshore consultants, forecasting for future needs, maintaining resource reporting data and analysing future resource delivery.
ABOUT THE DAY TO DAY…
You’ll get stuck into a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities, including;
- Responsible for deployment of resources to match client demand/deadlines, location and skills of the team
- Work closely with stakeholders and the wider coordinator team to find solutions for resourcing conflicts, monitor client information flow, and redistribute resource to reduce ‘idle time’
- Maintain the resource reporting data to provide a clear picture to management on capacity
- Has an understanding for headcount levels in their business unit to enable fair work allocation/portfolio building and feed into wider recruitment/promotion needs
- Monitor and manage utilisation levels across all grades. Ensuing planned over and underutilisation is challenged, flagged or escalated to relevant stakeholders
- Update our resource planner for any new recruits and leavers, allocating/reallocating jobs and training based on skillsets and training needs
- Ensure that processes implemented by the resourcing team are followed by all stakeholders within the business including holiday booking/study leave /non chargeable projects etc
- Maintain an internal skills matrix and use this to allocate work accordingly
- Work closely with our training manager and student support manager to allocate time out of the business for internal training courses, college and exams
- Provide regular data driven insight to Senior audit resource manager/ key stakeholders on upcoming capacity, peaks and conflicts to help enable and drive business decisions
The role will also be designed to help you grow and develop through your career journey. With access to a wide range of knowledge to help push yourself further - from Managers to Partners, the team are always happy to support you.
About you…:
At Cooper Parry, we’re in it together. All we ask of our people is that they play all in. You’ll continuously strive to keep learning – whether you’re a trainee or a Partner – and you’ll be brave, stepping out of your comfort zone to tackle new challenges. Above all, be nice. A simple notion, but an irreplaceable part of what makes CP, CP.
The key for this role is organisation, to keep on top of the resource for the team, but also to be adaptable to anything that might effect the planning. You will be hands on, proactive and an important part to ensuring our audit team is running at their best. We are looking for someone who…
- Can hold difficult conversations, challenge senior stakeholders and is resilient
- Experience working with various different stakeholders
- Can prioritise effectively with incredible time management
- At least 3 years’ experience working as a resource manager, ideally supporting resourcing/scheduling needs for audit teams or otherwise in accountancy
- A real team player, ready to jump in and support the team when needed
About us…:
We’ve been dubbed ‘the rebels of accountancy’. So, we don’t give run-of-the-mill advice.
We’re straight-talking. Never afraid to share our opinions. We put people and relationships before products and services, and deliver a streamlined, client-focused service – free from unnecessary red tape.
That’s how we’ve become the fastest-growing accountancy firm in the UK, and we’ve never been the type to rest on our laurels.
Over the last couple of years alone, we’ve achieved some fantastic feats:
- Partnered with Waterland Private Equity in July 2022, and are now on a lightning-fast growth journey
- Ranked No.1 in the Accountancy Age Mid-Tier Power Index in 2022
- Best Companies’ No.1 Accountancy Firm & No.30 Best Large Company to Work For in the UK
- Became B Corp Certified in 2023 and we’re still the UK’s largest accountancy B Corp, measuring and improving our impact beyond business for a brighter tomorrow
- Came No.3 overall at the Inspiring Workplace Awards in 2024, against all businesses of all sizes in the UK and Ireland. We were recognised as “Best-in-class” for Inspiring Culture and Purpose, Wellbeing, Employee Voice and Employee Experience
