Job Description
About the team
Join our dynamic Litigation & Contentious Regulatory (LCR) team, led by General Counsel. We are a forward-looking and innovative legal team, which prioritises colleague development. We provide expert advice and support to businesses and functions across the Group in relation to disputes and contentious regulatory matters. Our overall purpose is to partner with empathy, courage and creativity to Help Britain Recover and Prosper.
We always looking for opportunities to deliver new ways of working across L&S to ensure that we are Future Ready. We are presently seeking to bring best practice in legal practice management to our in-house teams. The newly-formed Legal Practice Management function will be responsible for driving forward all operational and financial management including: ideation and implementation of LCR & L&S strategic and transformation initiatives; ongoing review and streamlining of operational processes to enhance overall productivity and effectiveness; optimising data & management information / reporting; implementing and managing an effective centralised resourcing system; relationship management across LCR, L&S and with our key stakeholders and external partners, and other tasks to support the general management of the function.
A typical day

The primary function of the Resource Manager role is to manage central workflow and allocation of matters across our agile legal teams. This involves collaborating closely with Heads of Legal and lawyers to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of resourcing and workflow. Where capacity allows, you will also support the Legal Practice Manager with other operational aspects of their role. Key responsibilities include:

  • Centralised resourcing - you’ll be our guru for resourcing of the LCR legal practice including demand planning, utilisation and capacity management. Matching skills and capacity to tasks to keep everything in balance.
  • Collaborating closely with LCR’s management team and lawyers to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of a fully agile legal function.
  • Contribution to the delivery of ongoing transformation initiatives to streamline processes and systems for LCR and delivery of wider LCR and L&S strategic initiatives.
  • Sprinkling some tech magic with automation and workflow wizardry in relation to allocation and reporting.
  • Promoting a supportive diverse colleague culture, that empowers colleagues to deliver on all areas including wellbeing, development and continuous improvement.

What you’d get in return

We’ll give you a broad remuneration package which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution
  • An annual performance-related bonus
  • Share schemes including free shares
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
  • 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies.

Want to stand out?

Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who has:

  • Previous experience working in resource management, legal practice management or on legal/large-scale transformation projects, bonus points if it’s in the banking and financial services sector.
  • Good understanding of operations and project management principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting and collaborative relationships.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail and focus on delivery.
  • Ability to use data and MI to produce effective analysis, reporting and also provide operational insights to the team
  • Ability to communicate ideas, risks, and strategies clearly and concisely – both orally and in written form.
  • Expertise in relation to use of legal technology and automation is also desirable, as well as knowledge of current best practice in the commercial legal sector.

We encourage applications from under-represented groups and are disability confident. So if you’d like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.
If you’re excited by the thought of joining us, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
