QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of a CoARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Maintenance of certification under NBRC requirements for those who received their RRT credential after July 1, 2002.
Responsibilities:
- Provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.
- Assess patient conditions, determine treatment requirements, and administer therapy.
- Transport mechanically ventilated patients and respond to code situations.
- Maintain and update patient charts with therapy information.
- Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and supervise students.
- Set up and operate respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring optimal treatment results.
- Evaluate medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient care.
- Monitor patient responses to therapy and perform pulmonary function tests.
