About our Team
Our team works within the Legal department, helping make the most out of Elsevier’s high quality scientific, medical and technology content. We work on high visibility projects, bringing customer-focussed, ethical design expertise to the development of high impact AI products.
About the Role
Supporting the enterprise to build and deliver ethical and trustworthy data-driven technology. Working with the Responsible AI & Data Science (RAIDS) Senior Director & team to implement and evolve policies, standards and best practices. Embedding a culture of risk management in use of algorithms across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Utilising your expertise in data strategy, governance and AI ethics to perform & maintain a market analysis. Evaluate best practices in the field on an ongoing basis, identifying threats & opportunities.
  • Providing strategic recommendations on how to achieve organisational change within Elsevier, and how best to operationalize the RELX Responsible AI Principles.
  • Conducting research & analyses of operational effectiveness, processes & stakeholders in AI governance. Drive & iterate development of governance artefacts including data cards, model cards and algorithmic impact assessments.
  • Scaling internal RAIDS Champions training program to provide ongoing education & awareness. Facilitate & provide support for product & data science teams in completing Algorithmic Impact Assessments and escalating issues according to policy.
  • Consulting on technology & AI policy across the business, including working with governance leaders in RELX on the upcoming EU AI Act. Support RAIDS Senior Director in guiding executive decision-making process.

Requirements

  • Have expertise and deep interest in AI ethics and data governance, with up-to-date knowledge of the AI governance landscape
  • Display deep knowledge of ethics and diversity issues in publishing, research, academia & healthcare
  • Have an awareness of the data technology landscape, including knowledge of some tooling and platform capabilities
  • Experience in delivering training including developing training materials, planning & facilitating workshops.
