ABOUT US:
Farmers Corner – Highway One Restaurant is a prominent tourist destination in Ashburton, NZ, renowned for serving authentic Chinese cuisine primarily to tour groups visiting our retail store. Our restaurant plays a crucial role in providing group meals while also exploring opportunities to attract local patrons.
Hours per Week: Average 40 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven relevant experience in restaurant management or a relevant formal qualification (NZQF Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of Chinese cuisine and Southeast Asian dining preferences.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Knowledge of restaurant financials, budgeting, and cost control.
- Fluency in Mandarin is a plus.

Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day restaurant operations, including staff scheduling, inventory control, and quality assurance.
- Uphold high standards of customer service to enhance the dining experience for both local patrons and Southeast Asian tour groups.
- Handle bookings and communicate with tour operators to accommodate dietary requirements and special menu requests.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the restaurant.
- Recruit, train, and mentor restaurant staff to maintain a skilled and motivated team.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure consistency and excellence in food quality.
- Implement and enforce health and safety standards to create a safe and hygienic environment.
