As the Beanery Manager, you provide leadership, dedication to guest satisfaction, consistency in service and train our Daymakers in the Berry Beanery, our very popular department that includes our Produce Counter selling seasonal fruits and produce from our farm and local farm partners, as well as our coffee and ice cream bar.
As a key member of the Heeman’s team, your role as the Beanery Manager is essential in contributing to our overall success. You’ll oversee daily operations, train and support your team and foster a positive work culture. In this role, you’ll help us achieve our goals of providing exceptional service and ensuring a positive environment and “Happy Place” for all Daymakers & guests.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & LANGUAGE
- 3-5 years of café or restaurant management experience
- Smart Serve and Food Handlers Certification (or willingness to obtain upon offer of employment)
- Language: advanced English (written and oral)

Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, and develop the team of 3 to 20 “Berristas” (aka Customer Experience Associates) on the SOPs for the department.
- Lead ordering, inventory management, storage, and displays to optimize sales, reduce food waste and maintain a reliable stock of necessary materials and ingredients.
- Thorough understanding of the produce cooler with our fresh local fruits, maintaining a clear system that allows associates to pull items according to plan.
- In conjunction with field leaders, provide your team and guests with up-to-date and accurate produce availability and supply status to educate them about fruit varieties and quality.
- Prepare menu items, such as sundaes, coffee, and milkshakes, according to Heeman’s recipes and prescribed techniques.
- Ensure food and drink items are costed and provide menu pricing updates for new or existing items when they fall outside target margin levels. Collaborate with the team on new drink and food menu items and plan for seasonal changes.
- Communicate with the team and the marketing department about new products and promotions.
- Lead opening and/or closing shift procedures for POS, cash handling, balancing, reporting, scheduling, and inter-shift communications.
- Work in compliance with all human resources, operational (SOP) and Food, Health & Safety policies and procedures
