JOB SUMMARY

We are an authentic Thai restaurant that has been established for over 30 years in a trendy neighbourhood near the centre of Ottawa. Our success hinges on balancing a warm in-house dining atmosphere familiar to many regular customers, together with a bustling take-out counter during rush hour that serves-up exceptional value. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Restaurant Manager who can oversee daily operations, ensure smooth and efficient service, and uphold our high-quality standards of hospitality.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in hospitality and food service management.
  • Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or similar role in the food service industry.
  • Certificates for Smart Serve, Food Handling, and WHMIS.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and in POS systems.
  • Knowledge of Thai cuisine is a plus.
  • French language proficiency is a plus.
  • Thai language proficiency is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and on call, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the staff schedule, train new staff members, strike a balance between managing staff performance and maintaining a harmonious team environment.
  • Greet guests upon arrival, manage reservations and special requests, follow-up on satisfaction.
  • Resolve customer complaints professionally, address issues arising, adapt when needed.
  • Brief the restaurant owner regularly on what is going well and what could be improved.
  • Monitor inventory, order supplies, oversee deliveries, maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Manage financial transactions, including cash handling, and daily sales reporting.
  • Ensure high presentation standards, verify that cleaning and maintenance is done systematically.
  • Ensure practices consistent with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, liaise with inspectors.
