Description:

The Resuscitation Lead Adults (working with the Paediatric Lead) will be a visible leader and work with the External Resuscitation Service Provider and the Outreach Team to advocate for best practice in Resuscitation; using current evidence based knowledge to develop, implement and evaluate the Resuscitation provision, promoting excellence in patient care and facilitate multi-professional working.
The role of the department is to lead, coordinate and provide all resuscitation council accredited training for Adult Nursing for BLS and ILS. It aims to empower and enable others to challenge practice when Resuscitation standards are not met while also celebrating achievements and best practice in Resuscitation service. Additionally, the department actively promotes Resuscitation issues.

Responsibilities:

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS RESUSCITATION LEAD ROLE?

  • To assist with the interpretation of Resuscitation Council National guidelines and policies for Resuscitation procedures.
  • To ensure that policies remain current and in-line with national policies and guidelines.
  • To assist with appropriate action in relation to and Department of Health communication relevant to Resuscitation.
  • Use the HJE standard agenda and minutes templates for the meeting.
  • Work with the Director of Patient Safety and Quality Improvement to produce terms of reference for the group, and review and update these annually
  • Assist with the identification of the minimum requirements and choice of Resuscitation equipment for use in clinical areas.
  • To ensure that training is delivered at the appropriate standard to all clinical staff and non-clinical patient facing staff.
  • To undertake a programme of audit to ensure compliance with hospital and national policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • To be aware of and comply with The NMC Code/HCPC standards and Hospital Policies.
