Description:
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) years of experience reviewing food facility plans and specifications
- Accredited as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) or a Registered Sanitarian (RS) by either the Washington State Board of Registered Sanitarians or the National Environmental Health Association
Option 1: Four (4) years of experience in environmental public health, food science, environmental science, or an allied field
- Option 2: A Bachelor’s degree in environmental public health, food science, environmental science, or an allied fiel
Responsibilities:
- Conducting inspections of state-regulated facilities and tracking inspection due dates using the Healthspace database.
- Serving as the primary liaison between the program and regulated facilities, addressing complaints and illness notifications.
- Offering food safety expertise, rule interpretation, and consultative services to local health departments, industry professionals, and the public.
- Developing and maintaining food safety policies, procedures, and training materials for a wide range of audiences.
- Assisting in foodborne illness outbreak responses in coordination with local health jurisdictions and other state agencies.
Location and Flexibility: Enjoy the flexibility of our hybrid work environment, where you can balance working from home and conducting inspections in the field. It is anticipated that you’ll be expected to perform work activities in the field within the Western Washington region 15% of the time.
