Who were looking for
We are seeking a skilled Retail Sales Associate to join our Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association Retail team on a part time basis in the Give shop from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm at the McMaster Hospital.
ABOUT US
The Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association is a non-profit organization that supports patient care at Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) through the operation of cafes, cafeterias, parking facilities, gift shops and retail services across the organization. To clarify, we are not Hamilton Health Sciences, but rather a separate organization that works within the hospitals to generate profits to donate back to HHS to enhance patient care.

Responsibilities:
- Provides excellence in customer service by welcoming our customers in a warm and friendly manner, sharing product knowledge with them, developing partnerships with our regular customers and provides quick efficient service at the cash area
- Effectively operates the POS system with minimal cash variances
- Effectively operates the OLG lottery terminal and balances to the POS terminal
- Balances break open ticket sales with minimal ticket variances
- Balances cash tray before and after each shift
- Receives and accurately price stickers new product
- Assists with merchandizing and cleans shop displays
- Understands and follows shop procedures
- Works with the sales team to be part of an efficient, motivated and cohesive team
- Follows loss prevention procedures, ensures and maintains shop security at all times
- Participates in physical inventories and spot checks as needed
- Communicates customer requests and concerns and any suggestions to improve the success of the shop to the Assistant Manager
- Works scheduled shifts
- Makes helping the customers with their buying decisions the top priority using suggestive selling techniques.
- Performs other specific duties as directed by the Assistant Manager or Retail Site Manager
