Description:
THE JOB
The Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for a Revenue Cycle Analyst* who is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing the day to day project activities of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) System within the Revenue Cycle Unit of DPH. The Revenue Cycle Analyst serves as a subject matter expert for EHR system regulatory requirements, guidelines, and payer contractual obligations and ensure that all codes and descriptions for services, procedures, supplies, and pharmaceuticals are accurately identified and in compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory standards. The Revenue Cycle Analyst will coordinate project activities, manage billing help desk request and support billing as needed to streamline workflows and maximize revenue, assist in developing systems security standards and meeting enterprise compliance objectives, develop system testing and assist with systems implementation, develop and conduct end user training.
Essential duties include:
- Revenue workflow optimization, policy development, data analyzing and reporting, and compliance monitoring
- Electronic Health Records (EHR) fee schedules set up by fiscal year and provider
- Create new procedure codes as requested by medical professionals, update medication cost and support/troubleshoot billing issues
- Perform audits of billing and work with the Innovation Technology Department on resolving errors
- Evaluate and make recommendations to management for cost savings, new service updates and training
- Prepare user manuals, training materials, desk procedures and executive summaries
- Identify fiscal security and application permission needs

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration OR Bachelor’s degree in another field which includes 30 semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in accounting, finance, healthcare administration, business administration or related field, half of which must be upper division.
Substitution: An active California Certified Public Accountant license may substitute for the education requirements. You must list your license on the license/certification section on your application.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented, self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and possess excellent interpersonal skills in order to effectively interact with all levels of clinical and financial personnel. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of standard hospital revenue cycle activities and practices, CPT/HCPC, UB-04 Revenue Coding, modifiers, and billing regulations.
