Description:
Overview:
The Revenue Integrity Specialist reviews patient medical records to assess for appropriate charge entry for Emergency Department of the Novant system. This function includes applying coding principles for correct charging including, Infusion/Injection Hierarchy, other CPT guidelines and E/M rules. Physicians and other providers are queried for missing or unclear documentation to support the charge process. E/M charge parameters are entered directly and separately billable procedures are identified and charged accordingly.

Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of healthcare experience or completion of RHIA/RHIT/CPC training program, required. Two years of customer service experience in a clinic setting, preferred.
- Licensure/certification/registration: CPC(A) or RHIT/RHIA within 18 months of hire, required.
- Additional skills required: Excellent Customer service skills. Working knowledge of current Procedure Technology (CPT coding). Ability to effectively communicate and work with physicians, staff and team members. Outstanding written and verbal communications skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Self-audit of work and awareness of impact on revenue cycle essential. Ability to adapt to frequent changes – in work assignment, environment and/or regulations. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed.
- Additional skills preferred: Clinical experience and/or hospital based billing experience.
